Spaghetti bolognese
Recipe:
- 500g Minced steak
- Large onion
- Punnet of mushrooms
- Garlic clove chopped
- Tin of tomatoes
- Tomato puree
- Dried spaghetti
- Chilli sauce (optional)
Method:
Peel and chop the mushrooms and onions and add the chopped garlic.
Fry until the onions have gone limp but not brown then add the mince.
Fry until the mince has lost its pinkness then add the tomatoes and tomato puree. If you want to spice it up a bit this is the time to add the chilli sauce.
Add the spaghetti to a pan of boiled water and keep the heat on full power. As the spaghetti starts to soften feed it into the pan so nothing is sticking over or this will burn.
Keep the mince on a low heat while the spaghetti is cooking.
When the spaghetti has come to the boil turn the heat down to a simmer and check a strand of spaghetti after 5 minutes to see if its cooked. I usually find, depending on the quantity I am cooking, that it’s cooked after 8 minutes.
Strain the spaghetti in a colander and plate up……….. enjoy 🙂
